Revelation 22:1
….. a pure river of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb”
Someone once said religion is like a cheap garden hose. Can you relate to that? Cheap garden hoses constantly get kinks in them, and eventually the kinks turn into holes and leak.
Cheap hoses and cheap church members are kinky and full of holes. Whoever it was that said that about garden hoses and religion did not say being a Christian is like a cheap garden hose. They said religion is like a cheap hose. In that respect being a Christian and being religious are two different things.
Religion is playing with a cheap hose. Religion alone will not pass water very long. Not living water anyway. Religion will kink and cause you problems. Religion will not deliver the goods. Religion, if you try to unravel it, will cause more kinks. Religion, when put under pressure, will bust open and lose its value. Religion is like a cheap hose.
One day I went to the store and bought the highest priced rubber hose made by man, and it solved my problems. No kinks, no leaks, peace in the garden at last. But it cost. It cost me dearly.
And on another glorious day I turned in my useless reel of religion for a relationship with Jesus Christ, and it has made all the difference. Oh, but it cost. It cost more than I could ever imagine. But it was worth the price. Living water flowing freely, never again to be bound up in kinks.
Do you have a watertight relationship with Jesus Christ, or just a kinky religion?
