Seasons

Ecc31

Today marks the un-official beginning of summer. Memorial Day   remembers that which is past. Today begins that which will be. A new season is beginning. Summer, no matter what the calendar says, is upon us.

Life, the writer of Ecclesiastes tells us, is marked by the seasons as well; the seasons of life. We have left the season of new birth, lush fields, plenty of rain, and cool nights.

Ahead lies summer with it’s heat and long days, extra hours of work as we maintain that which spring gave us, and a growing knowledge of what lies ahead.

The harvest will follow to quickly, it seems, and then the season of rest beyond that. All will come. All will go. We can not altar what the Lord has set in motion.

As I took my walk this morning I noticed that the puddles and creeks were running over, and I realized that God has blessed the land to overflowing, and that which He has sent will sustain the land thru the heat of the summer,  into the harvest, and beyond.

Life’s seasons hold the same patterns as the land. My life is in the resting phase, the heat of the summer is gone, the harvest over. Both were trying. This may be as well. But as sure as the overflow of the spring sustained the land, so will His blessings carry us thru to the end of the cycle of seasons.

My cup runneth over,’ David said, and surely within the confines of my memories, the cup is full. God has been good. Praise Him this morning saint, as you walk thru the seasons with me. Praise Him.

Ecc 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
