The world is in a mess. In America, it is getting worser every day. The Words of some Indian writer, Amit Kalantri , remind me that “Sometimes your pledges become your problems.” Chron 7:14 is a case in point.
2 Chron 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
In this oft quoted verse we find ourselves at the very feet of God, signing a treaty, or covenant, or contract as it is. A pledge on the part of two parties. God and man.
Gods part is simple and straightforward: hear, forgive, and heal. If He keeps His part, America will be great again, to quote some other highly esteemed leader of the day.
Our part is our problem. We are required to become humble, pray, seek his face, and turn from our wicked ways, then we will begin to see the pleasures of our pledge come forth.
Which one have we completed so far? Any?
Our leaders are lagging, our people are playing, our seekers are looking elsewhere, and the wicked are only getting worser. Our pledge is our problem. You are right, Amit, our promise is about to destroy us.
I’m doing pretty good here. It’s the rest of you who are dropping the ball. Shape up, you sorry old sinners. I can’t do this by myself.
Where is our problem here? An overabundance of pride, or a severe lack of prayer? Have we forgotten the pledge? Or do we not know the Lord with whom we contracted?
Just sayinn… ““Sometimes our pledges become our problems”
