Popping open the news this morning I was quickly reminded of the killing in Manchester, the witch hunt in Congress, another dead police officer, and a huge drug bust that will not scratch the surface of what could easily be called Americas biggest problem.
But the sun was peeking thru the window and Zeus, the Lab, was scratching on the door, so my day began as it always does, with a brisk morning walk. When I stepped off the porch my attention went, as it always does, to the eastern sky, and behold the Lord had painted a picture in the sky that quickly overshadowed the gloominess of this world.
Is this world getting better, or is it getting worse? Yes.
The truth of the matter is that my day is shaped by what I choose to shape it with. This day I choose to shape it with the sonrise, and the promise it holds. We have to walk among the havoc, but we can live among the loving. A prayer, a few pages of the Word, and a praise will make the day the best it can be. Paul woke up that way often, I think, for he said, Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.
