Jer 29:13 NIV… You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart
Today is Silent Wednesday. It is so called because it is the only day during the Holy Week that nothing is recorded about Jesus’ activities.
Judas was busy. He received his 30 pieces of silver on that day. He had unknowingly planned out his destiny on that silent day.
The religious leaders were busy. They were planning how to get Jesus on the cross before the Sabbath. Again, without their knowledge, they changed the course of the entire history of mankind.
But Jesus was silent. Or the day was. He was in Bethany, and most likely was in prayer and spending a quiet time in preparation for his last meal with the disciples and the walk to Calvary.
What’s to learn from all this? First see that the forces of evil are at work every day; both seen and unseen. They are charting out paths for you and me.
Secondly, see that the greatest change was made by the one who was the least conspicuous. Jesus changed the world with a silent prayer and time alone with the Father. We do not need to be neon bulbs to light the darkness.
We as Christians today have become so busy and focused on service and works that have lost God in the process. We have lost sight of what Jesus showed us on Silent Wednesday; Prayer and quiet time. We can best change the world from the silent corner of a closet.
