Egypt 2017

On that first Palm Sunday, Jesus entered into Jerusalem into the midst of both His haters and his followers, and, with full knowledge of what that would  mean, He came into His own, and sacrificed his life so that they might live. What began on Palm Sunday culminated on Easter.  One died that all may live. That is the story of Easter.

On Psalm Sunday 2017 an ISIS follower tried to enter a Coptic church in Egypt. A security guard, somehow sensing the danger  the man presented, held him back, then embraced him with a big hug, smothering the blast as the bomb went off. One died that many might live. That is the story of Easter.

How should we respond to the events of Psalm Sunday?

How can we, who live in this crazy, senseless world of 2017,                          and make sense of life and death?

Life and death are attached and inseparable. All will die; there is no question about that. And unless a seed first die, Jesus told us, new life can not come forthJohn 12:24. Death is forever, life is eternal. That is the message of Easter.

The Egyptian guard gave us a perfect picture of Easter this weekend.  And its purpose; love your enemy, smother him with love, and give your life that others might live.

Give your life to Christ, and live forever. That is the message of Easter.
