Plumb Line

Exodus 24:3

When Moses went and told the people all the LORD’s words and laws, they responded with one voice,

“Everything the LORD has said we will do.”

Moses then wrote down everything the LORD had said.

There are many different ways to reach the results we desire, not all of them turn out for the best. Here is an example:

Years ago in Mexico we were helping build a church with cement blocks. Sammy and I carefully put up a string line to keep the rows of blocks straight, and the walls started upward, one row at a time. Soon, however, the walls were not going up evenly, they were going in a different direction than the line. “Chanito,” Sammy called to the foreman, ”your wall is not following the line!”

“No problemo”,  yelled back the worker after studying the situation for a moment,  “we just move the line,” and he deftly moved the string to match the crooked wall. Once again everything appeared fine.

The picture of the string re-alignment came to mind the other day as I was looking at the “stuff’ available on T.V, and the rapidly degenerating morals of our society.

God has set the string, but we seem to have “No problemo’ moving it to fit our needs. “No problemo”; all is right again. Or is it?
