Happy Holi

holi

Today is a Holi day in India. No, I didn’t spell that wrong. The festival of Holi is a festival of love and lights celebrated in India by the Hindus, and this is its one day of the year. The occasion marks a Krishna legend about the Hindu deity, Krishna, and the festival is celebrated  in commemoration of the divine love of Radha for Krishna. The festivities officially usher in spring, with Holi celebrated as a festival of love.

Holi is a festival of love, and thus Google choose to use it as a splash page on thier web-site this morning. Choosing to celebrate love might have been better spent announcing the celebration of Easter. Easter, which is now only 34 days away, is the ultimate celebration of  love.

Of all the religions in the world, only Jesus Christ loved so much He died for others. Love and love alone nailed Him to the cross.

Only Christ rose from the dead in order to bring all men unto him.

Only Jesus can and will enter into a personal relationship with those who love Him, and only Christ promises to love, guide, and never leave those who  choose to love Him.

From a cross on a small mountain in a far off land, the God of the Universe proclaimed his love for you with the ultimate sacrifice. No other has done that. No other cares like Jesus. No other loves like He loves. His is not just  the tale of love about  some legendary figure in a fairy tale fantasy of  days gone by.

His love is eternal, everlasting, and available. Will you meet him and join in celebrating His day?  “This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.”  Psalm 118:24
