The fickle followers of Facebook are often so totally wrapped up in their friends that they have lost track of reality. We are often encouraged to “Share if you believe’ and ‘like’ if you agree, but the flick of the finger has committed nothing of any substance to anyone. Really. Nothing.
Being a Tweeter myself I can tell you things are not much better there. 140 characters will not begin to bring praise to the Lord or help to the sinner.
Linkedin is much broader, but has fewer followers. Kinda like the Lord himself, I guess.
There is only one social media site that invites any and all to join in, has no limits on the time spent or the subjects posted, and is in constant ‘Share” mode. It is Gods Word.
Whatever you wasted an hour on with Face Book would have meant more had it come from Hisbook. Reading from Snapchat and G+ will bring no great revelations either.
There was a time when you read His Word; hung on every verse. Wisdom lived there, in His Word, and peace and direction and love and strength; all of which are lacking at the social sites. What happened? Time? The world? Family? Work? It’s not too late to return, you know. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. (James 4:8)
All the things you have forwarded and forgotten and Googled and Twitted have not filled your souls. Nor fed your Spirit. There is a place… “Call on me … and I will answer you. I will show you great and mysterious things which you still do not know about.’ (NET Bible Jer 33:3)
Close that empty app and open the ancient Word. It has not changed, and it awaits you, even now.
