Last year TVLand introduced a series entitled, “Impastor” in which a gambler, in order to hide from his enemies, took the identity of a ga,y pastor in a small community. This was sold as a comedy, and it did, in fact, continue to make fun: fun of Christians. On Twitter it still has 6k followers.
Last night Fox broke out with “Lucifer” in which the devil comes to earth on vacation and masquerades as a well meaning, helpful club owner, whose bar is aptly named ‘Lux’, which means,’ light’. Really? Twitter shows 21k followers already.
Still another comedian with a huge following is Joel Osteen, with 21M little twits following him.
Truth, however, is much harder to find, and even more difficult to follow. The world has decided to opt out of the search, and denies it exists. Television makes a mockery out of it. Twitter and Facebook only share posts and tweets with the click of a button. But where is real truth?
George Carlin said, “The reason I talk to myself is because I’m the only one whose answers I accept.” Is truth a theory each one arrives at differently?
Pilate asked, “What is truth” to which Jesus had already given the answer. ”I am the way and the truth and the life”
Truth needs a rerun. A new look. A refresh button. But where is it?
If America would turn off FaceBook and open up HisBook we could change our land. Overnight.
If we would trade in ‘Twitting” for testifying we could change lives on a regular basis.
If Linkdin would become ‘Turndin” to Christ, then the revival we all seek would start tomorrow.
Maybe we can’t find truth because we re looking in the wrong places. While Matthew 7 urges us to “ask and seek and find,” the prophet Jeremiah said it best: ‘You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.’
Maybe we are looking in the wrong places? Just sayin..
