Seems to be a lot of conversation on Fb this a.m. about music (contemporary) as part of the problem in the dying church today. Do you agree? Or disagree?
My contention is that the music only reflects what is coming from the pulpit. Soft sermons following sentimental songs. But where is the Spirit in either?
Has the church led the movement away from evangelicalism, or followed? Do the empty pews simply reflect the empty experiences found by the empty followers?
America today longs for the words ‘Confession, repentance, conviction and, not last of all, sin. When did you last hear a sermon on any of them? We have lost our way. We have, above all, forgotten how to pray. One has said ,” “A sinning man stops praying, a praying man stops sinning”. A spiral into moral degeneracy has followed.
We have become what we are because we can not remember where we once were, and can not see where we have now arrived “The only reason we don’t have revival is because we are willing to live without it!”
Isaiah 53 is mentioned over 80 times in the NT, but seldom from the pulpits today. How can we know He who was pierced for us till we first know our own plight? Who will tell us?
Only a heaven sent, Spirit filled, Awakening will bring America, and our churches, back from the edge. Pray, my friend. Pray like you have never prayed before. Your country, your church, and your children depend upon it.
Isaiah 53:6..NIV We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
