During the long, hot summer days of Texas there is no sweeter nor more refreshing drink than fresh brewed, ice cold, tea. Iced tea has a flavor and taste all it’s own.
But if it is left untouched in the fridge a week or so all that changes. Left to stew in its own juices for a while the best iced tea develops a ‘whang’ [Whang is s a Texas word for a nasty kick. ] Undesirable. Useless. Ready to be poured out.
Same goes for a good wine, or coffee after an overlong day on the burner. Undrinkable.
Moab was a powerful country during the days of the Kings of old. But Moab had settled on her lees. She needed stirred up. She was about to come under fire and be destroyed because of her pride and complacency. She was consumed by her own self importance. She had rested on her lees(dregs)
America has settled on her lees. For so long a time we have not been poured from one vessel to another. All our conflicts have been elsewhere, and we have been unstirred.
America has become distasteful to the youngest of her people, and undesirable to the world outside. What made her great has made her tasteless.
And what was it that moved freshly around within her and made her the finest of the fine? What is it that has now settled to the bottom, and what is it that is no longer stirred or poured from vessel to vessel? Simply said, her faith. It has not been tasted or tested, but left to settle to the bottom of the pot.
Jeremiah 48:11 – Moab has been at rest from youth, like wine left on its dregs, not poured from one jar to another —she has not gone into exile. So she tastes as she did, and her aroma is unchanged.
PRAY FOR AMERICA
