Peace – in the War Room

Matthew Henry; Prayer is the key for the morning and the bolt to the evening

Inside the wall of the War Room all was quiet and still. But not so without.

War Room Wide

That something had passed thru the yard during the night was evident. There were no tracks, or trash, or footprints of any kind. But something had pierced the darkness around our house, and Zeus knew it. He knew it and would not leave it alone. He sniffed and circled and growled and, nose pushing up leaves as he went, disappeared into the woods. No, clearly we had not been alone.

Had it not been for that old hound we would have never know of the presence of another. But something in the senses of a retriever can see what we can not.

There are also around us things the best dog can not perceive. They can only be known by the Spirit. And it is the Spirit of Prayer that bolts the door of the night and allows us to sleep soundly and safely.

I fear no ghosts or spooks, and trolls and demons give me no concern, for I have One who never sleeps, One who is ever watchful, yes, One who will even give his life in my place. Fact is, He has already done just that.

And if things of death and darkness stalk me during the day or draw near in the night, I have His word that he will never leave me nor desert me, and that He has faced the forces of darkness and defeated them.

Sleep on, my soul, rest easy Zeus. All is well tonight, for my Savior is near.

Just inside the door of the War Room.
